Name: Aden
Age: 17
Nation/bender: Fire Nation/Firebender
Appearance: Aden stands at around the height of 176 centimeters, he has a well toned, yet slender body type. His skin is pale, and eyes are an uncommonly pale blue among people of the Fire Nation. Aden is all about finesse, and so he moves with grace and speed. What he does not have in physical strength, he can make up for in technique and speed. In his long jet black hair there is a streak of white, mysteriously there from birth. Some say he was touched by a spirit as a child, others claim he was possessed by a demon during the spirit's caress, branding him with a mark of evil. His right arm is burnt up to the elbow, which is why he always wears a glove up past his right arm's elbow. He usually dresses lightly, in thin untraditional clothing consisting of a baggy white long sleeved shirt with a black outlining, some simple black trousers and large comfortable sandals.
Personality: Aden is serious as death usually, emitting an aura of leadership that most wouldn't expect from someone of his status in society. Though he is well known throughout his nation, he is not easily recognized physically until someone notices his uncommonly pale blue eyes. There are times, though, this facade seems to disappear--when caught off guard by something exciting, Aden can recede to an almost childlike state. When alone, Aden often is more vulnerable than he appears around others. Though his stern glare lasts through any encounter, in the comforting eyes of the stars, he still fears many things. Crying is only above him when being watched. In battle, Aden is a fierce opponent, he is frighteningly accurate, to the point of being rumored to be one of the best for his age.
History: Aden was born to a woman he doesn't remember, brought up by a girl he can't recall, and influenced by men he couldn't pick out in a crowd. He'd been an orphan since before he could walk, he was sure. But unknown to Aden even now, he was born to a gentle Waterbending mother and high ranking Firebending father, although these things he will never be able to remember, as he was only a few months old when his father drowned in a fatal attack against the Fire Nation navy. Soon after that his own mother gave him up to an orphanage as she couldn't raise him by herself. Since age three, he had wanted to make something of himself, and so he had thought that all great men were fire benders.
It wasn't until he was 5 that he was able to figure it out, and from there, he continued working until what he had accomplished was perfection. At 7, he could perform Firebending as a skill better than any man he knew; and then it happened. A particular skill trick grew the fire too powerful, and Aden lost control of it. It caught his sleeve, and tore down his clothing, but in his panic, he didn't put it out in time to save himself from the serious burns his arm had suffered. A nine year old at this time, convincing himself to bend fire again was hard--frightening even, but he forced himself to do it. The fear, on the other hand, never left. Only focus allowed him to pull off his tricks anymore--fighting would require a lot more concentration.
At twelve, he decided that he would pursue a different method, and picked up weapons. Naturally gifted, he learned quickly by standing on the wall and watching the teachers issue their lessons to the young up-and-coming weapon masters. Five years taught him that men did not cry, men were arrogant, and the only way to live was to win at everything; the only way to crawl yourself up out of the gutter was to prove that you stood atop a mountain, and so he set out to do it. His name, though truly lacking in fearful quality, resounds like a gong in people's ears, and he makes sure never to disappoint.
Weapon: Kusari Gama - is a traditional Japanese weapon that consists of kama (the Japanese equivalent of a scythe) on a metal chain with a heavy iron weight at the end. Attacking with this weapon usually involves swinging the weighted chain in a large circle over one's head, and then whipping it forward to entangle an opponent's spear, sword, or other weapon, or immobilizing his arms or legs. This allows the Kusari Gama user to easily rush forward and strike with the scythe. A Kusari Gama wielder might also strike with the spinning weighted end of the chain directly, causing serious or deadly injury to his opponent while still outside the range of the opponent's sword or spear.
Pet: A Vulture Griffin named Abbas. The Vulture Griffin takes many of its qualities from the mythological griffin. With the head and wings of a vulture and the body of a lion, the Vulture Griffin appears to be a vegetarian, which is contradictory to both of its inspirational animals. The mane of the Vulture Griffin is made of white feathers, and it surrounds the base of the neck, as opposed to the back of the head as in lions.
